What to Drink with Oysters
You know that moment when you’re about to order oysters at a restaurant? Don’t you wish you knew which drinks would best complement your order? Or you may be throwing a dinner party with oysters and wondering which drinks will be best paired with them. Either way, we’re here to help guide you.
Read on for our drink recommendations to help you experience that explosion of taste and texture in your mouth:
Sparkling Wine and Champagne
Let’s face it, bubbles and oyster are a match made in heaven! Not only do the bubbles provide a contrast in terms of texture, the acidity of the drink also contrasts nicely with the creaminess of the oysters.
Gin
A Gin martini or classic Gin & Tonic go down very nicely with a plate of delectable oysters. Hendricks is a great choice as the subtle cucumber notes complement the oysters well.
Stouts
The bitter taste of stout beer goes well with the saltiness of the oysters. Guiness is a great choice if you’re going to go for this option.
Tequila
Want to liven up your oyster experience even more? Follow it up with a shot (or three) of white tequila. Some oyster lovers even add a splash of tequila into their mignonette for a zesty pairing with lime.
Crisp and Dry White Wines
Crisper white wines such as Muscadet or Pinot Grigio are a great choice to wash down oysters.
